Seeing Double: Multiple Works by Area Artists in the RAM Collection

August 28 - November 28, 2015

A healthy and vital art scene is a boon to any community. RAM’s Wustum Museum of Fine Arts has been a key factor in building and nurturing the arts in the Racine area. In support of that, RAM has added the artwork of many artists connected to the region to the permanent collection over the years.

This exhibition features area artists who are represented by more than one example of their work in the museum’s holdings. RAM’s collecting mission is built on many principles, including a goal to acquire multiple examples by a single artist in order to demonstrate their process of development and change over time. Whether received through gifts or donor-established purchase awards, RAM owns the work of distinguished local artists such as Robert Burkert, Sylvester Jerry, Ed Kalke, and Frances Myers.

Seeing Double is designed to complement the artists honored in the RAM Artist Fellowship Exhibition 2015. Both shows underscore the vibrancy of the arts in the area—past and present.
