Artists of all ages were invited to welcome spring by creating imaginative pieces for the only museum competition of its kind in the world. \nSubmitted by individuals\, families\, and organizations\, entries for the 2021 show were judged by a panel of experts\, based on creativity and the best use or representation of PEEPS®. \nEach year\, the show’s popularity draws thousands of visitors to RAM\, setting daily attendance records and inspiring nationwide media attention along the way. While attendance for the 2020 show was affected by the global pandemic\, interest from creatives remained unwavering—137 enthusiastic artists created art inspired by the springtime treat for the RAM 11th Annual International PEEPS Art Exhibition. \nThis intimate glimpse of the show will broadcast on Wednesday\, April 7 at 10:30 am CST on the RAM Facebook page. A Facebook account is not required to watch the tour\, but viewers with an account will be able to ask questions during the tour and receive responses from museum staff. In continuation of this effort\, RAM is pleased to announce an upcoming virtual tour of the museum’s current exhibition Collection Focus: Mary Giles\, a retrospective of the work of fiber artist Mary Giles (1944–2018). \nThis virtual visit of the museum galleries with RAM Executive Director and Curator of Collections Bruce W. Pepich and RAM Curator of Exhibitions Lena Vigna brings the exhibition\, Collection Focus: Mary Giles\, to life. Their candid\, informative discussion about Mary Giles’ work and inspiration offers a deeper understanding of the artist’s creative journey. Professionally produced by Matt Binetti of Racine\, Pepich and Vigna’s 20-minute video tour illuminates how Giles’ “works have a presence rooted to the earth’s rhythm.” \nThis virtual tour will premiere at 2:00 pm on Tuesday\, January 19 on the RAM Facebook page. A Facebook account is not required to watch the video\, but viewers with an account will be able to ask questions during the premiere and receive responses from museum staff in the video chat. The tour will launch simultaneously on RAM’s YouTube channel\, and may also be watched on the museum website. \nIncluding further insight\, RAM has produced a 16-page exhibition catalogue with essays on the significance of Mary Giles’ work along with representative images of her pieces in the museum’s permanent collection.
