Renowned printmaker and ceramicist Paul Andrew Wandless will teach you how to put images into screens without the use of a darkroom and how to carve designs into relief blocks. Then\, learn how to print multi-color images using these screens and reliefs. \nImagery and design will be used as a means of personal expression during the workshop. Clay surfaces will be used as canvasses for exploring printed imagery\, design\, pattern\, color\, and text. The techniques you learn can be applied to the surfaces of handbuilt vessels and sculptures or can be used to create tiles and standalone prints. All levels of experience are welcome. \nA detailed supply list—required for this class—is available to view and download below. \nAdditional tickets are available below that allow you to provide an additional $15 on one or both days of the workshop to receive a lunch from the museum. This event is free to the public. \nPaul Andrew Wandless is an artist\, craftsman\, and writer who grew up on the east coast and now lives\, works\, and teaches in Chicago. His clay prints\, prints on paper\, and sculptural art are symbolic and narrative. Several of Wandless’ works are currently on loan to RAM for the exhibition\, Blurry Boundaries: Contemporary Artists\, Imagination\, and the Spaces Between. During this conversation\, Wandless will share much about his life as an artist and respond to thought-provoking questions from Scott Terry and the audience—audience participation is encouraged! \nDoors open at 6:30 pm with time allotted for socializing before the 7:00 pm conversation. The discussion will wrap up at 8:00 pm\, but guests and attendees are encouraged to stay afterward for additional time to connect and mingle. DESCRIPTION:The Power of Printmaking Workshop: Ages 7–13\nPhotography: RAM Staff\nKids Art Week 2: One Day Workshops\nWednesday\, June 29\, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm \nInstructor/Artist: Natalee Zeisler \nTry your hand at several methods of printmaking—create one-of-a-kind prints\, or craft a series of prints that can be used for cards or gifts. By the end of this workshop\, you too might become printmaking fanatic…once you start printing\, you won’t want to stop! \nCan’t get enough printmaking? Take part in Full Steam Ahead at Wustum on Saturday\, August 13 to watch regional artists create prints using a steamroller! \nPlease bring a lunch and water bottle. \nFace masks may be required for this class depending on the state of the pandemic at the time. \nFees: $62 Members   $78 Non-Members \nOnline registration closes two days before class begins.
