Binh Pho created work that blended his personal history, the natural world, Asian culture, and aesthetic interests. Pho’s life was marked by turbulence including an “idyllic childhood” but also his fleeing from Vietnam. He began woodworking as a hobby, but it became a career as he grew more proficient. While he used various media to make work, Pho is best known for wood-turned vessels such as Mystic Moon that are punctuated with pierced areas and bright color.
