Ceramic artist Chris Antemann creates contemporary parodies of eighteenth-century porcelain figures which often subvert gender roles and explore different social norms and taboos. Best experienced in the round, Antemann’s Paradise depicts a number of figures in various states of dress situated around a tree enjoying a picnic. Some of these figures hold fruit, perhaps referencing The Garden of Eden and its temporary paradise.
