Old Schlitz Beer Delivery Depot

Born in Kahla, Germany, in 1878, Paul Lauterbach was employed as a porcelain painter before relocating to Milwaukee in 1925. Likely self-taught as an artist, Lauterbach eventually became part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). Generally interested in local history, biblical themes, still lives, and birds, Lauterbach reflects his desire to depict aspects of his US home, Milwaukee, in Old Schlitz Beer Delivery Depot.
