Watercolor Wisconsin Prospectus

Please read the Prospectus for complete entry information. You will find requirements and specifications, registration card, identification labels, important dates, awards, and prizes.

Any artist who is a resident of (or maintains a residence in) Wisconsin and is 18 years or older.

Entry Fee
Submit $35 here, Free for RAM members

Submission of Entries
  • One or two works made after 2014 may be entered.
  • Work must be executed in an aqueous medium or water-based medium combined with dry or mixed media; for example: watercolor, acrylic, ink, or gouache.
  • All work must be on a paper surface, including 2-D, collage, book, or 3-D construction. Canvas, canvas panels, yupo, and non-paper surfaces are unacceptable.
  • Work must be framed adequately, glazed with glass or Plexiglas®, and wired for hanging. Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable. Consult staff for deviations from this rule before Wednesday, September 27. RAM reserves the right to refuse works that do not meet the museum’s standards for quality, presentation, and framing.
  • Work must not have been created under the direct supervision of a teacher.
  • Work must not have been exhibited at RAM’s Wustum Museum or RAM.
  • Submissions must meet all requirements listed above.

Christina Haglid
 is Senior Paper Conservator and Manager for the Art Conservation Department at Joel Oppenheimer Gallery, Chicago, Illinois. A visual artist, she exhibited her dreamlike, nature-inspired paintings at Ann Nathan Gallery in Chicago from 1997 to 2016, and is now represented by Gallery Victor Armendariz, Chicago. 

Tom Herzberg AWS, IWS has been a freelance illustrator for over 30 years, completing 2000 illustration assignments and winning numerous awards. He was an instructor at American Academy of Art  in Chicago for 17 years. Herzberg is a longtime member of the U.S. Air Force Art Program, with artwork in the permanent collection of the Pentagon.

Submitting artwork to this competition constitutes an agreement by the artists with RAM to photograph and reproduce work for publicity and catalogue purposes.

Valuation of Submitted Work
Prices may not be changed after entry, and should represent the retail price of the framed work. Please note that RAM collects a 40% commission on works that are for sale. If your entry is not for sale (NFS), please include an insurance value.

Insurance and Liability
Entries will be handled with care, but RAM is not responsible for loss or damage from any cause, whatsoever, during jurying. RAM assumes liability for works selected for exhibition.

Purchase Awards
RAM uses Purchase Awards to buy works from the exhibition for the museum’s collection. Note: Artists willing to accept standard Purchase Awards of $300, $500 or $800––even when the retail sale price is higher––should check the appropriate box on the Registration Card. RAM reserves the right to choose to purchase works at 60% of the sale price, whether the net amount to the artist is less or more than the standard Purchase Awards.
