SPARK!ing Togetherness and Tradition

SPARK! is a free cultural engagement program for people with memory loss and their care families. SPARK! programs are held monthly at RAM’s Wustum Museum. Developed to provide a stimulating, yet non-threatening atmosphere, these creative experiences encourage the person with memory loss to actively engage in the moment and leave with a feeling of accomplishment and worth. These programs are equally important for the caregiver/care family—to have an engaging time with their loved one.

Each program offers a unique mix of engagement-focused activities explored through visual art conversation, sensory stimulants, creative writing/poetry, music, the art of movement, and hands-on art-making.

There are over 25 SPARK! organizations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan that provide free engagement programming for people with memory loss and their care circles. To learn more about SPARK!, visit ramart.org/education/spark or sparkprograms.org

The SPARK! Recipe Board

Our SPARK!lers are a big part of the Wustum family. Together, we created a family recipe chalkboard—featuring each family’s favorite food traditions with recipes from various heritages. Are you a fan of Pigs in the Blanket or a really good homemade Casserole? Looking more for a sweet? Perhaps the Nalenski polish crepes or the Kletskoppen cookies sound intriguing. Take a picture of a recipe or two and try it at home.

Share it with us! Post your own yummy creations on Instagram using the hashtag #RAMSparkRecipe
