Artists View Frank Lloyd Wright as Inspiration: Prints and Interpretive Models

June 5–6, 2010

Adding to the excitement of Wright & Like 2010 coming this June, RAM hosts a special exhibition honoring one of the greatest American architects. This display is a preview of an exhibition that RAM hosts in the summer of 2011 in honor of the 100th anniversary of Taliesin East, one of Wright’s landmark constructions in Spring Green, Wisconsin.

Artists View Frank Lloyd Wright debuts the arrival of gifts of photographs, prints, and books created by artists and authors inspired by the work of this famous architect. Included are the 1980 print portfolio of Wisconsin artists Frances Myers in which she uses Wright buildings as subject matter, photographs of Wright buildings by Pedro E. Guerrero, a selection of books about Wright and facsimiles of Wright portfolios. These gifts, donated by Karen Johnson Boyd of Racine, establish an archive at RAM that showcases materials about the architect and provides a survey of the degree to which he has been a major inspiration for other artists.
