Kids Day returns to RAM's Wustum Museum! Families can participate in a variety of free outdoor entertainment inspired by current museum exhibitions, including hands-on art projects and a scavenger hunt.
Explore the Wustum galleries to find inspiration from the community art exhibition, Cultural Reflections, then discover the wide variety of unique ideas and voices that can be found in RAM’s collection. Once you're thoroughly inspired, you can bring your ideas to life through a myriad of materials including clay, paint, paper, and more. A fabulous and fun week full of new experiences and art-making techniques!
Let’s use imagination to spark creation! Find inspiration through storytelling and art exploration, then create work that ignites boundless creativity. This is a great introduction for the young artist to learn through exploration.
Young artists will create museum-ready masterpieces throughout the week utilizing a variety of skills and fun materials.
Create an artists' book or two through creative visual storytelling and cover design.
Welcome to the world of weaving! Learn how to weave a wall hanging or two using various fibers and natural found objects.
Sculpt sea creatures out of recycled materials as a way of keeping plastic away from our fish friends in the ocean!
Try your hand at several methods of printmaking—create one-of-a-kind prints, or craft a series of prints that can be used for cards or gifts. By the end of this workshop, you too might become printmaking fanatic…once you start printing, you won't want to stop!
Craft wearable and sculptural 3-D art out of polymer clay. Learn molding techniques to blend colors and make simple canes. This workshop will feature demos and tutorials for specific projects as well as time to just play with and explore the material.
Learn a multitude of clay handbuilding techniques while creating sculptural art! Clay pieces will be underglazed and fired, but not clear coated with a shiny glaze. Learn about ways to add to your creation at home after firing.
Create a 3-D imaginary landscape inspired by Lost at Sea—a loaned piece by artist Edouard Duval-Carrié on display in the RAM exhibition, Blurry Boundaries—that challenges preconceptions and creates a sense of time and place, whether real or imaginary.
